About Me
I go by Sable Hayalet, the name I made for my first FFXIV character. "Sable" means "black" in Slavic, and "hayalet" comes from the Turkish word for "ghost". (She is/was an adorable Lalafell. I've attached a blurry picture of her below.)

Anyhow, I work in the tech industry by day, and cuddle up with books by night. (Just kidding โ I actually love tech so much, I don't get to read every night. ๐ And yes, I created this website myself! I was in a little bit of a rush so please don't judge too hard. ๐ )
Hobbies
I have a lot of hobbies, but not enough time for all of them. I enjoy graphic design โ journal/magazine layouts, stickers, etc. I've dabbled in crocheting, book binding (I ought to get back to that one), jewelry-making, and more. And of course, I've always wanted to write my own novel.
Personality Things
Categorization quizzes intrigue me, so here are a few of mine for you:
- MBTI: ENTP-A
- DISC: D/C (or C/D, can't remember)
- Enneagram: 7w8
The Story
I started this blog as a way to talk about some of my favorite books (mostly) anonymously, without judgment from peers, friends, or family.
Growing up, I was not allowed to read books such as Harry Potter, for fear that the sorcery in the books was real witchcraft. (The first time I read about the Wizarding World was during winter vacation a few years ago. By then I'd already fallen deep into the rabbit hole of YA and adult books, but hadn't sat down to enjoy this particular series yet. I hid away on my iPad after borrowing the whole set of books from my library's online collection.) When I got older, that social "book ban" extended to many more "inappropriate" genres โ though depending on the author, some books were more "acceptable" than others.
I did love mystery and adventure, but I fell head-over-heels for fantasy and romance, the frowned-upon categories. In my early teens, I devoured Wattpad stories and stayed up many a night reading, only falling asleep in the wee hours of the morning. Later on, titles like the Shadowhunter and The Great Library series, and now the Empyrean books, began to weave their way into the shelves of my heart.
It is difficult to contain joy and excitement over books when there is hardly anyone you can share that happiness with. The moments when I wanted to swoon over Magnus + Alec ๐, grieve over the deaths of Liam Mairi โค๏ธ and Morgan Hault ๐งก, fawn over Mark + Cristina + Kieran ๐ โ all felt like whispers into the void.
In early 2024, I decided I wanted an outlet for myself; a place to share all the ideas, opinions, and emotions swirling in my head. I have loved books since I first learned to read almost two decades ago. This blog is a space where I can share my love for all the incredible stories that ignite my imagination, and I invite you to join me in this beautiful adventure.
Welcome into my void.
Please note that I'm not here to judge those who don't want their children to read certain books before a certain age, or at all. I only desire to create a space for myself and others who love all kinds of books.
The End
If you've read this far, congratulations! I hope this page has satisfied your curiosity about me (or maybe, opened up more questions).
I always love to hear from other booklovers, so don't hesitate to shoot me a message at @sablehayalet or hit me up on X for a chat. Tell me all about your favorite books, or ask me about mine!
