Sable's Notes
This book felt a little slower than the previous one, but it contained just as much emotional pain as the rest of this series has given me. 🥴
We start out with Arran in an enchanted sleep, and Veyka being worried to hell about her mate. But the fight for Annwyn can't be put on hold simply because the High King is indisposed, so Veyka decides to keep pushing forward while her mate fights for his life.
Cyara and Lyrena remain, as always, Veyka's best girlfriends. We don't see much of Gwen in this book, but we know she's fighting for Baylaur in a way no one else can.
Percival — and Diana, his sister — continue being dragged around by Veyka and her crew. 😝
We also get a peek into the terrible beauty and down-to-earth quality of Eilean Gayl, the terrestrial court. We meet Elayne and Pant, Arran's parents. I love them both, honestly — Elayne is everything one wants in a fictional mother, and Pant is just an awesome comedic thing.
Notable New Characters 👀
- Barkke, flirtatious and slightly mysterious terrestrial
- Elayne, sweet mother of Arran
- Diana, timid sister of Percival who has suffered a lot
I'm Screaming
- I don't think Veyka and Arran even know that Parys is dead yet . . . I CAN'T 😭 I haven't gotten over him yet :(
- Barkke is just too funny 😜
