This book is the first in a trilogy.

The Characters

Meet the cast of characters:

  • Joan, a research scientist whose internship dreams are shattered when an accident befalls her.
  • Thiago, the eldest of the Cardoza siblings, who would give up anything to protect his sisters.
  • Gabby, the youngest Cardoza, determined to use her gift to discover the truth behind her parents' untimely deaths - even against the wishes of her brother.
  • And Luna, the strangest of the siblings, who lives more in the future than the present, and whose gift is more a curse than a blessing.

Plot Summary 😋

Joan Sanders and the three Cardoza siblings didn't know each other until Thiago Cardoza saves her life.  A tentative friendship blooms and the paths of the four begin to entwine, their connection to each other - and time - running deeper than any of them ever suspected.  (Except Luna, of course.)

Seeing through time is both a blessing and a curse, especially with a tormented, unkillable immortal chasing after you.  Sacrifices must be made, and choices chosen, in order to protect the fate of the world.

Sable's Notes 🖤

What's not to like about a good time travel story?  I enjoyed reading from each of the characters' unique POVs, seeing glimpses of their thoughts and watching the pieces of the story come together.  The pace of the book is steady, though a bit slower than I'd like (or what I'm used to with high-stakes fantasy).

I love books about siblings, and the Cardozas are no exception.  Their personalities, passions, and gifts balance each other out, creating harmony within their own little circle of family.  Thiago, Gabby, and Luna are all easy to fall in love with, and it is heartwarming to watch the ways they show their affection and care for each other.

Note that the villain in this story is . . . not 100% evil.  I like morally grey characters with understandable motivations, as they make for more memorable stories with deeper emotional pull, and I'm curious to see how Kinch will handle this one.

  • Gabby finding her peace
  • Who inherited Luna's gift??!!!
